Paso Robles In Every Pour
We believe that the true essence of Cabernet Sauvignon is found in the soil. Our vineyards in Paso Robles provides a unique terroir to create a wine that is as complex as it is elegant.
Paso Robles is one of California’s most dynamic and diverse wine regions, located midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along the Central Coast. Officially established as an AVA in 1983 and expanded in 2014 into 11 distinct sub-districts, Paso Robles has built a reputation for bold red wines, Rhône varietals, and increasingly Cabernet Sauvignon.
Soils are among Paso Robles’ most distinctive features, with over 50 recognized soil types ranging from ancient sea beds and limestone-rich marine sediments in the west to volcanic and alluvial soils in the east. This patchwork creates strong site variation, allowing for both structured, cool-climate styles and powerful, ripe expressions depending on the location of the vineyard.
The region’s defining feature is its dramatic diurnal temperature swing—hot, sunny days followed by cool nights influenced by marine air flowing inland through the Templeton Gap. This climate allows grapes to achieve full ripeness while retaining natural acidity, resulting in wines that are vibrant, powerful and balanced. The soils vary widely, including limestone, calcareous shale, clay, and sandy loam, contributing to the complexity and site expression found across the region.

The 2023 Vintage
Comprised predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (97%) with a splash of Petit Verdot (3%), the 2023 vintage Forge & Vine Cabernet Sauvignon pours a deep ruby to inky purple color. Vibrant aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, cassis, and plum, layered with notes of cocoa, vanilla, baking spice, tobacco, with a touch of dusty earth and dried herbs. The palate is full and commanding with plush tannins and a rich, mouth-filling texture. The finish is smooth, structured, and persistent. 14.3% alcohol by volume
